Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Civil Service Exam Recruitment: –
A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.
Age Limit: – A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August, 2021, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1989 and not later than 1st August, 2000.
Age Relaxation: – 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category candidates.
Application fee: – Candidates applying (excepting Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit card.
Selection Process: – As per candidate’s performance in Preliminary Written Exam, Main Written Exam & Interview.
The Civil Services Examination comprises two successive stages:-
- Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for Civil Services (Main) Examination; and
- Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview/Personality Test) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
Scheme and Subjects for the Preliminary and Main Examination
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION:- The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.
(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will be of two hours duration.
(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.
(iv) Details of the syllabi are indicated in Part A of Section III.
MAIN EXAMINATION: – The Written Examination will consist of the following papers: –
(One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution). – 300 Marks
English – 300 Marks

Penalty for Wrong Answers: – Candidates should note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answer marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
