Computer Based Examination :
About Exam Pattern :-
Scheme of Delhi Police written test is given below :
► The question paper shall be of objective type.
► There will be a composite paper carrying 100 questions.
► Each question shall carry 01 mark. Paper will be of total 100 marks.
► Question Paper Will be Based on General Knowledge (20 marks), General Science (25 marks), Mathematics (25 marks), Reasoning (20 marks) and Computer Fundamental, MS Excel, MS Word, Communication, Internet, www and Web Browsers etc (10 Marks).
► The written test will of one and half hour (1½) (90 Minutes) duration.
► The paper shall be in bilingual i.e. English & Hindi.
About Exam Syllabus :-
The Exam Syllabus will be as Follows:
Indicative Syllabus for Computer Based Examination
(A) General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test his/her knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Indian Economy, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
(B) General Science: Physics: Understanding of the basic concepts of topics like thermodynamics, mechanics, Newton’s Law of Motion, Gravity, Motion, Pressure, Units of measurements, sound, Heat & Temperature, Electronics, Magnetism, Ohm’s Law, Number systems, Fiber Optics, Mode of Communication etc. Chemistry: Chemistry of everyday life, commonly used chemicals, important catalysts, reactions, Commercial applications of chemicals, chemical and physical change, definition-based question, Acids (Sulphuric acid, Hydrochloride), Atomic Number, Elements and their symbols and Electro Chemistry, etc.
(C) Mathematics: Number systems, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Averages, Simple and Compound interest, Profit, Loss & Discount, Time, Distance & Work, Algebra (Equations, Surds, Indices, Graphs), Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Data Interpretation, Sequence & Series, Permutation & Combination and Simplification.
(D) Reasoning: Non-Verbal Reasoning (figures), Analogy, Alphanumeric Series, Number Series, Critical Thinking, Coding and de-coding, Logical reasoning, Input-Output, Blood Relations, Syllogisms, Table, Directions/Ranking Test, Venn Diagrams, Seating Arrangement, Coded Inequalities, and Data Sufficiency.
(E) Computer Fundamentals, MS Excel, MS Word, Communication, Internet, www and Web Browsers, etc.
This paper will include questions on the following:
- Elements of Word Processing (Word Processing Basics, Opening and closing Documents, Text Creation, Formatting the Text and Rs presentation features).
- MS Excel (Elements of Spread Sheet, Editing of Cells, Function and Formulas).
- Communication (Basicsof E-mail, Sending/receNing of Emailsand its relatedfunctions).
- Internet, www and Web Browsers (Internet, Services on Internet, URL, http, FTP, Web sites, Blogs, Web Browsing Software, Search Engines, Chat, Video conferencing, e-Banking) etc.
Physical Standards :
Male candidates | Height | 170 cms, relaxable by 5 cms for:- 1. Residents of hill areas i.e. Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunanchal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh & Ladakh regions of J&K (Candidates claiming this relaxation would have to produce a certificate to this effect (Hill area certificate) from the competent authority i.e. DC/DM/SDM or Tehsildar of their place of residence at the time of Physical Measurement Test). 2. Sons of either serving, retired or deceased Delhi Police personnel/Multi-Tasking Staff (Formerly Group ‘D’ employees) of Delhi Police. |
Male candidates | Chest | 81 cms to 85 cms (With Maximum 4 cms Expansion), relaxable by 5 cms for:- 1. Residents of hill areas for which certificate as above (Hill area certificate) will be produced. 2. Sons of either serving, retired or deceased Delhi Police personnel/Multi-Tasking Staff of Delhi Police. |
Female Candidates | Height | 157 cms, relaxable by 5 cms for:- 1. Note:- For all candidates minimum expansion has to be 4 cms, failing which he will be disqualified.

Trade Test :-
Five (05) times the number of vacancies in each category i.e. General/ OBC/ SC/ ST & Ex-Servicemen in their respective category both for departmental candidates and open market category, in order of merit, will qualify for the trade test.
- The trade test shall be compulsory for candidates to be eligible for appearing in the typing test.
- This test will be taken in the form of reading and dictation.
- The dictation, both in Hindi and English languages, will be given to the candidates in groups.
- The reading test will require each candidate to read a passage from the given text both in Hindi and English.
Typing Test on Computer For Delhi Police Head Constable Wireless Operator:-
All candidates who qualify the Trade Test (Reading & Dictation) will be required to appear for a Test of Proficiency in Computer Operation which will be of qualifying in nature (i) Test of English word processing speed-1000 key depressions in 15 minutes (ii) Test of Basic Computer Functions (Opening/Closing of PC, Printing, MS office usage, saving & modification in typed text, paragraph setting &numbering etc).
(I) English Word Processing Speed Test :
Test of English Word Processing Speed-1000 key depression in 15 minutes will be conducted on computer and adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per given printed passage in English containing 200 words, would be given to each candidate, who would enter the same in the Computer in Word Format of MS Office.
Note:- Candidate who makes 25 mistakes or more, shall be disqualified.
(II) Test Of Basic Computer Functions :
(Opening/Closing of PC, Printing, MS office usage, saving St modification in typed teat, paragraph setting & numbering etc).

10 features of formatting, as listed above may be tested in each test with 1/2 mark each for every feature of formatting. In case of the formatting feature, if the candidates carry out the formatting as per the specimen, 1/2 mark each will be given. Otherwise, no marks will be given.
